Jim Hunter

Jim Hunter has spent his career managing global IT projects in Japan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Micronesia, Philippines, France and the United States. With more than 25 years in the information technology industry, Jim has a wide range of experience including project management, strategic planning, business process improvement and development of business technology solutions.

Jim's 12-year public administration career with the United States Foreign Service Diplomatic Corps. included several appointments in the Asia/Pacific region. He is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technologies and a graduate of the U.S. Federal Executive Institute's Public Administration program.

In addition to his public service, Jim has gained extensive knowledge and experience in the private sector. Jim successfully managed mission-critical projects in the petrochemical, entertainment, distribution/logistics, insurance and securities/investment banking industries.

After a 3-year stint (during 1997-2000) as the Senior Project Manager for an IT consulting company in Tokyo, Jim co-founded PM-Global. He was also a founding member of Stanford University's Advanced Project Management program in 1998, which has evolved into the present Stanford Certified Project Manager (SCPM) project management mastery program. Jim has been a member of the international Project Management Institute (PMI) since 1989 and achieved the globally recognized Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in 1993.


Soichiro Iwamoto

Soichiro Iwamoto has a great deal of experience in project management consulting and training, and business process improvement, primarily for major multinational corporations and government organizations. Before co-founding PM-Global, Soichiro joined the fledgling Project Management Office (PMO) of an IT consulting company. As a member of the PMO, Soichiro contributed to the improvement of project management skills within the organization by providing services including the introduction of project management frameworks, business process modeling, and the development and execution of project audits for both internal and external clients.

In the area of consulting, Soichiro has successfully managed global project teams for Japanese and foreign business clients using project management methodologies based on global standards, as well as his cross-cultural management skills and bilingual language capability. His project experience includes Y2K compliance, system development and integration including offshore development in conjunction with an Indian partner company, dividends settlement system development, and portfolio management planning.

In the area of training, Soichiro developed the curriculum and teaching methodology for a PMP certification training program. This program has resulted in a high number of clients, particularly from major software corporations, passing the PMP certification exam. The program consistently receives excellent evaluations from clients.

Soichiro graduated from Keio University and worked for Mitsui & Co., Ltd. before studying in a post-graduate program in Commerce at the University of New South Wales in Sydney. He has also studied Advanced Project Management at Stanford University. Soichiro is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI), and a member of the Project Management Association of Japan (PMAJ).
